Terms & Conditions
1. Introduction
1.1 These Terms and Conditions govern participation the New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Incorporated's NZB Kiwi Golden Ticket Competition (Promotion).
1.2 The Promoter is New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Incorporated (Promoter), 18 Dick Street, Cambridge.
2.Prize
2.1 Each Winner will become a Representative 'Slot Owner' in the NZTR Slot for the NZB Kiwi Race (Race). As a Representative Slot Owner the Winner will be entitled to the following (Prize):
(a) 1/12 th share in any Net Stakes earned by the horse running in the NZTR Slot in the Race. Net Stakes will calculated following completion of the Race and after deductions from the horse's total winnings to the NZTR Welfare Levy, jockey, trainer, and horse owner(s) in accordance with the Rules of Racing and the Private Arrangement in place with the horse's owner(s);
(b) two (2) tickets to the NZB Kiwi Marquee Tent on Champions Day 7 March 2026, at Ellerslie Racecourse, 100 Ascot Avenue, Remuera, Auckland;
(c) travel, accommodation, and transfers for two (2) people to attend Champions Day on 7 March 2026 at Ellerslie Racecourse, 100 Ascot Avenue, Remuera, Auckland;
(d) invites to other Race events and opportunities to experience racehorse ownership (behind-the-scenes experiences) as determined by NZTR in its sole discretion; and
(e) travel and accommodation for one (1) person for one additional trip (additional to Champions Day) to attend an event or behind-the-scenes experience, as agreed with the Promoter.
2.2 All travel and accommodation arrangements forming part of the Prize will be determined by the Promoter in its sole discretion and are subject to availability.
2.3 Unless expressly stated otherwise, the following are excluded from the Prize:
(a) any costs associated with attending more than one Race event or behind-the-scenes experiences;
(b) any alternative cash payments or substitution for the Prize; and
(c) any incidental expenses associated with the Prize, including meals outside the hospitality package on Champions Day.
2.4 The Promoter is not responsible for the payment of any duties, fees or taxes, or any other expenses incurred associated with the Prize.
2.5 NZTR will remain the legal proprietary owner of the NZTR Slot and will be solely responsible for selecting the horse to run in the Race and managing all Slot Holder administration.
2.6 The value of the Net Stakes is not guaranteed and depends entirely on the horse's performance in the Race.
2.7 The Prize is personal to the Prize winner and is not transferable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash.
2.8 Any attempt to sell, assign or otherwise deal with the Prize may result in withdrawal of the Prize at the Promoter's discretion.
3. Eligibility
3.1 Entry is open to New Zealand residents aged 18 years and over.
3.2 The Promoter's employees, contractors, and their Immediate Families are ineligible. 'Immediate Families' include spouses, de facto spouses, grandparents, parents, siblings, children, and grandchildren, whether by marriage, past marriages, remarriage, adoption, co-habitation or other family extension.
3.3 The employees, contractors, and the Immediate Families of the following organisations are ineligible to enter the Promotion:
(a) TAB NZ;
(b) Entain New Zealand Limited and Related Entities;
(c) Auckland Thoroughbred Racing;
(d) New Zealand Warriors Limited;
(e) Auckland FC (Black Knight Football Club);
(f) Auckland Blues Limited; and
(g) William Waiirua Limited.
3.4 The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant from participating in the Promotion on reasonable grounds. This includes (without limitation) any entrant who tampers with any of the Promotion processes or engages in conduct that may damage the reputation of the Promoter.
3.5 The Promoter may disqualify any Entrant where the Promoter reasonably suspects or detects duplicate entries, referral abuse, fraud, automated or computer-assisted entries, or any other conduct intended to unfairly increase an Entrant's chances of winning or undermine the integrity of the Promotion. If such conduct is identified after an Entrant has been confirmed as a Prize winner, the Promoter may withdraw the Prize in accordance with the "Cancellation or changes" clause of these Terms and Conditions.
3.6 The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries. If a Prize winner fails to provide such information within five (5) working days of request (or such longer period approved by the Promoter), the Promoter may withdraw the Prize and select an alternative winner in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
3.7 To be eligible to win, an Entrant must be able to:
(a) attend Champions Day on 7 March 2026 at Ellerslie Racecourse, 100 Ascot Avenue, Remuera, Auckland;
(b) attend at least one other Race event or behind-the-scenes experience;
(c) participate, as reasonably required, in promotional, publicity, and marketing activities in connection with the Race and the horse;
4. How to Enter
4.1 To enter, participants must complete the entry form and provide all requested details accurately.
4.2 Participants can enter more than once in accordance with the following:
(a) one digital entry per person is permitted to the NZB Kiwi Golden Ticket Draw;
(b) one entry per Cash Machine Activation event, with an unsuccessful entry added to the NZB Kiwi Golden Ticket Draw;
(c) an additional entry into the NZB Kiwi Golden Ticket Draw for each successful 'refer a friend' entry, if offered by NZTR in its sole discretion;
4.3 Entry to the Promotion is free.
4.4 Entries that are incomplete or inaccurate may be disqualified.
4.5 The Promotion shall run from 22 January 2026 until final stakes payments are made following the running of the Race. (Promotion Period).
4.6 All entries must be entered by 4pm Tuesday 18 February 2026.
5. How to Win
5.1 There are nine (9) Prizes to be won.
5.2 The Prize can be won by an Entrant:
(a) securing a Golden Ticket in the NZB Kiwi Cash Machine (Cash Machine); or
(b) through the NZB Kiwi Golden Ticket Draw.
6. NZB Kiwi Cash Machine (Cash Machine)
6.1 A total of seven (7) Prizes will be available to be won by securing a Golden Ticket in the Cash Machine during the Promotion Period.
6.2 Golden Tickets may be won at each of the following Cash Machine Activations Events, or at any other alternate events as determined by the Promoter in its sole discretion:

6.3 If the available Golden Tickets are not won at a Cash Machine Activation Event the Promoter may make those unclaimed Golden Tickets available at a later Cash Machine Activation Event, in its sole discretion. Any unclaimed Golden Tickets not won at the completion of the Cash Machine Activation Events will be added to the total number of Prizes in the NZB Kiwi Golden Ticket Draw.
6.4 At each Cash Machine Activation Event, participants will enter the Promotion before entering the Cash Machine. Every Entrant will have the opportunity to participate in the Cash Machine Activation at the event they attend. An Entrant who successfully secures the Golden Ticket in the Cash Machine will be deemed a Prize Winner, subject to these Terms and Conditions.
6.5 Entrants must follow all instructions from the Promoters staff and contractors and use the Cash Machine only as directed. The Promoter may refuse entry into the Promotion to any person who appears unwell, impaired, intoxicated or unable to safely take part, and may pause or cancel the Activation for safety reasons at any time.
6.6 By participating, Entrants accept the risks of the Cash Machine, and to the maximum extent permitted by law the Promoter is not liable for any injury or loss arising from the use of the Cash machine, including failure to follow instructions, unsafe behaviour, or circumstances beyond the Promoter's control.
6.7 Consolation prizes may be available in the Cash Machine, but are not guaranteed by the Promoter.
6.8 Only one Prize per person. Once an Entrant has won a Prize (excluding a consolation prize), they are ineligible to enter the Promotion again, including at other Activations or in the NZB Kiwi Golden Ticket Draw.
7. NZB Kiwi Golden Ticket Draw
7.1 A minimum of two (2) Prizes will be won via a draw held on 19 or 20 February 2026, in addition to any Golden Tickets not won in the Cash Machine Activation Events.
7.2 Entries to the NZB Kiwi Golden Ticket Draw will include:
(a) all unsuccessful entries from the Cash Machine Activations; and
(b) all digital entries completed online (including valid refer a friend entries).
7.3 All valid entries will be placed into the Cash Machine. A representative of the Promoter will enter the Cash Machine, and when operational, will grab two (2) entries. Those two (2) entries are deemed Prize winners, subject to these Terms and Conditions.
7.4 If the two (2) entries grabbed are the same person, the Promoter's representative will re-enter the Cash Machine and grab a third and any successive entries required until two (2) different winners are identified.
7.5 NZB Kiwi Golden Ticket Draw winners will be notified using the contact details provided at the time of entry.
7.6 The Promoter is not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected, incomplete, or corrupted due to technical or system errors.
7.7 The Promoter reserves the right to modify the draw if events beyond its reasonable control compromise the integrity or fairness of the draw.
8.Acceptance of Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy
8.1 Entry into the Promotion is deemed acceptance of:
(a) these terms and conditions;
(b) the Promoter's Privacy Policy;
(c) the attached Schedule: Representative Slot Owner Terms and Conditions;
(d) entry and eligibility requirements; and
(e) prize details.
9. Promotion Material
9.1 By participating, all Entrants grant the Promoter the non-exclusive right to use their names, photographs, videos and voices for promotional purposes related to this Promotion or future promotions, without compensation.
9.2 The Prize winners consent to the Promoter using their name, any photographs, video or media content featuring them for the purposes of the Promotion and any related NZTR promotional, marketing or publicity activities. The Prize winners will not be entitled to any payment or compensation for such use.
10. Risk and Liability
10.1 Participation in the Promotion and use of the Prize is at the Entrant's own risk. To the greatest extent permitted by law, the Promoter, its partners, and representatives accept no responsibility for any loss, damage, personal injury, or claims arising in connection with the Promotion or the Prize. The Promoter is not responsible for any failures, delays, or events beyond its reasonable control that may affect the Promotion.
11.Privacy
11.1 Personal information will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and the Promoter's Privacy Policy.
11.2 Entrants may request access to, or correction of, their personal information by contacting the Promoter.
12. Changes and Cancellation
12.1 The Promoter may amend these Terms where reasonably necessary to address changes to the Promotion or circumstances beyond its control.
12.2 Continuing to participate in the Promotion after any amendment constitutes acceptance.
12.3 If for any reason beyond its reasonable control the Promoter is unable to run the Promotion as described, the Promoter reserves the right to postpone, extend, amend, re-schedule or cancel the Promotion at any time at its sole discretion on the provision of reasonable notice (which will include posting on its social media channels).
12.4 The Promoter is not responsible for any delay, interruption, suspension or cancellation of the Promotion, any Activation, the Cash Machine, or the NZB Kiwi Golden Ticket Draw caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to weather, safety concerns, equipment failure, public health events, or acts of government.
12.5 The Winners will be notified via email or phone. Where attempts to contact the Winners fail (e.g. when the winner cannot be contacted after three attempts) the Promoter will draw another winner
13. Promoter's Decisions are Final
13.1 The Promoter's decisions regarding the Promotion, winners, horse selection, and Prize allocation are final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into regarding these decisions.
14.Cancellationor changes
14.1 NZTR may cancel, postpone or alter the Race, its date, time, venue, conditions or any other aspect of the Race at any time and for any reason. If the Race is cancelled or altered, the Prize winner is not entitled to any payment, refund, compensation or additional benefit of any kind.
14.2 At any time after a person has been confirmed as a Prize winner, the Promoter may withdraw the Prize and revoke the winner's status if the Prize winner:
(a) conduct themselves in a manner which has the potential to, or does damage the image and reputation of NZTR, the Promotion, the Race or brings NZTR or the Thoroughbred racing industry into disrepute;
(b) breaches any of the Terms and Conditions for the Promotion including the Representative Slot Owner Terms and Conditions in the Schedule.
14.3 If a Prize is withdrawn under clause 14.2, the Promoter may, in its sole discretion, select an alternative Prize winner from the remaining eligible Entrants using such method as it determines.
15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
15.1 These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
15.2 The courts of New Zealand have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any dispute arising in connection with the Promotion.
Schedule - Representative Slot Owner Terms and Conditions
1. Status of Representative Slot Owner
1.1 Each Prize winner is appointed as a Representative Slot Owner for the NZTR Slot for the NZB Kiwi Race (Race).
1.2 The Representative Slot Owner:
(a) does not acquire any legal, beneficial, proprietary or equitable interest in the NZTR Slot;
(b) is not a "slot holder" for the purposes of any NZTR Slot Holder Agreements or the Race Rules; and
(c) has no rights other than those expressly set out in this Schedule.
1.3 NZTR remains at all times the sole legal and beneficial owner of the NZTR Slot and retains full control over:
(a) selection and nomination of the horse to run in the NZTR Slot in the Race and all dealings with the horse's owner(s), and trainer(s);
(b) all dealings with the Race Committee, Auckland Thoroughbred Racing, the Racing Integrity Board (RIB) and other departments of NZTR; and
(c) all Slot Holder administration.
1.4 The Representative Slot Owner must not assign, transfer or otherwise deal with their rights under this Schedule.
2. Economic Entitlement Only
2.1 Subject to clauses 2.2 and 7, each Representative Slot Owner is entitled to a 1/12th share of any Net Stakes earned by the horse running in the NZTR Slot in the Race.
2.2 Net Stakes means the net amount payable following completion of the Race after deduction of:
(a) the NZTR Welfare Levy;
(b) jockey percentages;
(c) trainer percentages; and
(d) horse owner(s)' entitlements
in accordance with the Rules of Racing, the Race Terms and Conditions, and any applicable private arrangements.
2.3 There is no entitlement to any Bonus stake money earnt by the horse running in the NZTR Slot in the Race.
2.4 No amount is payable unless Net Stakes are actually earned and received.
2.5 The value of any Net Stakes:
(a) is not guaranteed;
(b) is wholly dependent on the performance of the nominated horse; and
(c) may be nil.
2.6 There is no entitlement to any bonus stake money that may be earnt by the nominated horse in any later races by virtue of running in the Race.
2.7 NZTR is appointed as the sole representative and agent of the Representative Slot Owners for the purposes of administering, calculating and distributing any Net Stakes and liaising with horse owners, trainers and racing authorities.
2.8 NZTR may require a Representative Slot Owner to provide identity verification, tax information and AML/CFT information as required by law. Payment of any Net Stakes may be withheld until NZTR is satisfied that all requirements have been met.
2.9 Each Representative Slot Owner is solely responsible for their own tax obligations. NZTR may deduct or withhold any amounts required by law before payment.
3. No Partnership, Agency or Ownership
3.1 Nothing in this Schedule creates or is intended to create:
(a) a partnership, joint venture or association;
(b) any form of agency or fiduciary relationship; or
(c) any ownership interest in the Slot or the horse.
3.2 The Representative Slot Owner must not:
(a) represent themselves as an owner or slot holder of the NZTR Slot; or
(b) do anything that could reasonably mislead the public as to their status.
4. Conduct and Compliance Obligations
4.1 Each Representative Slot Owner must at all times:
(a) comply with all applicable laws, the Rules of Racing, and any integrity requirements of NZTR or the RIB;
(b) act honestly, responsibly and in a manner that does not bring NZTR, the Race, the Slot, or the racing industry into disrepute; and
(c) comply with all reasonable directions issued by NZTR in connection with the Race or the Slot.
4.2 The Representative Slot Owner must immediately notify NZTR if they:
(a) become a prohibited or disqualified person under the Rules of Racing;
(b) are charged with or convicted of any offence that could reasonably impact racing integrity or public confidence; or
(c) become subject to any investigation by a regulatory or law enforcement authority.
5. No Control or Decision-Making Rights
5.1 Representative Slot Owners have no right to:
(a) select, influence or veto the nominated horse for the NZTR Slot;
(b) participate in nomination decisions;
(c) deal with the Race Committee or RIB; or
(d) bind NZTR in any way.
5.2 All decisions relating to the Slot are at NZTR's sole and absolute discretion.
6. Promotion and Public Statements
6.1 Any promotional, marketing or media activity involving the Race or the Slot:
(a) requires prior written approval from NZTR; and
(b) must comply with NZTR branding and conduct requirements.
6.2 The Representative Slot Owner must not make any public statement that:
(a) suggests ownership of the Slot; or
(b) is misleading, deceptive, or damaging to NZTR, the racing industry, or the Race.
7. Removal and Disqualification
7.1 NZTR may, in its sole discretion, immediately remove a Representative Slot Owner and terminate their entitlement to the Prize and this Schedule if NZTR reasonably determines that the Representative Slot Owner:
(a) is a prohibited or disqualified person under the Rules of Racing;
(b) has engaged in criminal, dishonest or improper conduct;
(c) poses a reputational, regulatory or integrity risk to NZTR or the Race;
(d) has breached this Schedule; or
(e) has failed to meet eligibility or integrity requirements.
7.2 Upon removal:
(a) the Representative Slot Owner forfeits any future entitlement to Net Stakes;
(b) no compensation is payable; and
(c) NZTR may select a replacement representative or reallocate the entitlement at its discretion.
8. Limitation of Liability
8.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, NZTR is not liable for:
(a) any failure of the horse to earn Net Stakes; or
(b) any loss suffered by the Representative Slot Owner arising from participation in the Race.
9. Acknowledgement
9.1 The Representative Slot Owner acknowledges and agrees that:
(a) participation is a representative and conditional role only;
(b) no proprietary or ownership rights arise; and
(c) NZTR's decisions in relation to integrity, eligibility and removal are final.
9.2 NZTR may amend this Schedule by written notice where reasonably required for regulatory, integrity or operational reasons.
